A wireless pet fence like the Petsafe PIF 300 can be a life
saver. If you have ever had a dog that would not stay in your yard or if you can not put up a fence you would
know what I mean.
A loose dog is not a good thing by any means.Obviously your dog,if not controlled, could be hurt not to mention
that someone else may be if your dog bites. It is not a pretty picture at all. This is where an electric fence for
dogs comes in handy. The Petsafe PIF 300 does an excellent
job of keeping your dog contained.
The PIF 300 is a true wireless system as opposed to one that requires wire or cables to be run underground in
your yard.No digging or trenching has to be done!
The two basic parts of this invisible fence for dogs are the transmitter which is conveniently installed inside
of your house.Simply plug it into any outlet that isn't being used and turn it on.It sends a continuous radio
signal which is adjustable from 5 to 90 feet away.
The other part of course is the collar that your dog will wear.It receives a signal from the transmitter when
your dog gets close to the predetermined outer range of the signal. If your dog doesn't pay attention he will get a
mild static shock to remind him to turn around. The strength of the static shock can be adjusted right on the
collar.
One thing that could be an issue is the fact that the transmitter sends it signal out in a circular pattern 90
feet in all directions.Depending on the width of your yard, you may find that your dog can actually enter a
neighbors yard.Kind of defeats the purpose. You can dial down how far from the transmitter the signal goes but then
you will also limit how far your dog can roam.
On the plus side is the fact that this can easily be a portable electric fence for dogs.So if you go on
vacation, you could take it with you.Just be aware that if your dog is used to having a certain distance before
getting a signal he will probably need some time to readjust.
Being portable is also nice if you have no plans to stay in your house for a long time.If you move to a new
locale, simply unplug the transmitter and then plug it in again when you arrive at your new place.
Overall I would have to say that the PIF 300 is a decent electric fence for dogs and is something to consider if
a wireless pet fence is something that you need.
