Canine Training Tips and Advice
Hi Everyone!
As a dog owner I've created this site as a guide to help train your dog, your four legged pal.Because lets face
it,even though they are all cute and lovable in their own way sometimes they can get out of hand.
Inside you will find information on training ands tips that I have learned, heard of or found online. Also when I
find useful products or services I will try to include them.It doesn't have to be a chore to train your dog.It can
be a fun bonding experience for both of you. A chance to build a strong loving relationship that will last a
lifetime.
Every pet is different. They have their own personalities, quirks
and habits just like us. Methods that may work well with some dogs may not work with others, The main thing to
remember is that you are in charge.Have patience with your dog and it will pay off.
When Fido jumps up on Aunt Martha and ruins her new dress, or Fluffy leaves a puddle on the carpeting for you to
find that is bad enough. But it can be a lot worse if you dog becomes overly aggressive towards other people and
bites someone.Or maybe chases a car out in the street and gets hit.Either can be a very bad situation.Experts agree
that is why training is so important and should begin when your dog is a puppy.
At the very least your dog should learn to obey the sit command as this is the basis for all other commands and
that should be followed with the stay or come commands. These are the very basics and will go a long way towards
getting your dog to respond in the manner that you would like him to.
Once you have mastered those then move onto something more challenging.Perhaps you may want to start with some
of his more annoying habits like barking or digging.Remeber to be consistent and persistent. Set aside the same
amount of time everyday. Make it play time. You will both enjoy it a lot more and he will learn faster. While your
dog may understand at about the level of a two year old child,he isn't one .So don't expect him to respond like a
child would.
Don't be overly concerned if your pet is older. It is not necessarily true that you can't teach old dogs new
tricks. Many older dogs enjoy learning and the activity that brings, just as much as younger dogs do.They like to
have fun too!
Having a loving, well behaved dog is worth the effort for both you and he. Training makes that easier for you to
go places and do things. Family and friends are more inclined to pet sit if need be or allow you to bring your dog
when you visit.Neighbors will certainly appreciate the quiet if your dog loves to bark. The mailman will love not
worrying about being bit if your dog bites. That is what training can do for you. You can rest well knowing your dog
is a model canine citizen and the envy of the neighborhood.
So come on in,have a look around. You just might find something that will help you with training your dog.
